A leading independent wine and spirit merchant Coe Vintners has more than 75 years of trading behind it. A source of everything from Cognac and Armagnac through to everyday and special occasion wines, including primeur sales and new-release Germans.

At Vinifera Boutique Oscar Majurin offers the chance to pick up some superb wines at very favourable prices. The focus is on France, with names like Domaine Mosse, Pierre Breton, Chateau Soucherie and Chateau d'Aurilhac.

Now a well established presence on the UK wine auction scene, Bid for Wine has recently spread its wings and is now trading in Hong Kong too. Clearly a 'go-to' destination if you are selling off some wine, or just looking to pick up a few interesting bottles.

A new online UK merchant, Serenata Wines sells an impressive array of wines from across the globe, featuring lots of new labels and producers, from France, Italy, Germany, Spain, South Africa, Australia and beyond. Flowers and chocolates also available!

Internet merchant Winedirect seems to offer it all; a broad list, featuring everything from top Chinon and Bourgueil to high-scoring Californians, from the fizz of Bouvet-Ladubay through to Cristal and Krug. They offer UK and international delivery.

Storage is a problem that affects all of us with more than a few bottles, especially if keeping long-term. Spiral Cellars offer the ultimate solution; a purpose-build underground cellar in your own home, holding up to 1800 bottles.

Look beyond the big-name Champagnes with Champers, a 'small-is-beautiful' merchant that specialises in grower Champagnes. You can find Pol Roger and Joseph Perrier here, but the real pull is a collection of unsung wines from Mont Hauban and Leclerc-Mondet.

Essentially Wine offers a fabulous range of items through its smart online store. From corkscrews to coolers, decanters to dripstops, this merchant has it all. There are cufflinks, aprons, measures and more, all wine-related. They even sell wine!

The online presence of Slurp gets stronger every year, and there are plenty of new additions to the range to peak my interest. From classic French appellations to great new wines from Argentina, Greece, Bulgaria and Spain, there is something here for everybody.

Another merchant has come on board as a Winedoctor sponsor, the merchant in question being none other than Cadman Fine Wines. Established by Giles Cadman, whose philosophy is a worthy one; his aim is to provide high quality wines at reasonable prices.

With a focus on real wines, a penchant for the Loire (although there are wines from the Rhône and elsewhere) and great service, it might come as no surprise that Artisan Wines is a past winner of my 'Merchant of the Year' award. I buy here!

Bordeaux Wine Investments (1998) offer wines from around the world and are predominantly specialists in Bordeaux having built close contacts in this region. BWI offer a bespoke service and specialize in large formats, en primeur, cellaring and broking for investment and high quality drinking wines. Marcus Edwards had more than ten years in the trade under his belt when he set up Albany Vintners. The attraction here is a heady combination of wholesale prices and a minimum order of just £200, a figure which puts some other UK traders to shame.

Leading UK wine merchant Bancroft Wines have long impressed with their beautifully presented wine lists, which absolutely drip with Winedoctor favourites, too many to name. Great wines and personal service - a winning recipe.
